Plasma membranes enclose most of the organelles in the cell and the cell as a whole. The plasma membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer containing a hydrophobic core (tails) and a hydrophilic outer membrane (head). Integral and peripheral Proteins are embedded throughout the membrane that help molecules move in and out of the cell using active and passive transport.
